OTTAWA, April 12, 2009 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to peanuts or sesame seeds not to consume the Choripdong brand Biscuits (Rice Puffs) described below. The affected product contains peanuts and sesame seeds which are not declared on the label.
All codes of the Choripdong brand Biscuits (Rice Puffs), product of Korea, sold in 280 packages bearing UPC 8 809000 435056, are affected by this alert. packages bearing 8 809000 435056, are affected by this alert.
This product is known to have been distributed in British Columbia and Alberta. However, it is likely this product was distributed nationally.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to peanuts or sesame seeds.
The CFIA is working with importers to remove the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIAis monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
